Moravia Cans: maintenance information
at the point of repair

At its Bojkovice plant, Moravia Cans uses Edmund to support fault diagnosis and repair preparation. Maintenance technicians can consult equipment documentation, review previous maintenance interventions and check spare parts availability through a single interface. Alongside manuals and maintenance records, they can access operational data held in the plant's business systems.

Repair information was spread across separate sources

Moravia Cans operates high-speed forming and printing lines for aluminum aerosol cans. The company has grown by 60% over the past three years. During an unplanned stoppage, the maintenance team needs to assess the fault, determine the repair procedure and arrange the required spare parts.

The information needed for that work was held in separate locations. Equipment manuals were on shared drives, previous interventions were documented in maintenance records, and inventory and production data were held in business systems. Troubleshooting required technicians to move between these sources and know where to find each piece of information.

Equipment documentation supported by plant data

Edmund made these sources accessible through a common interface. Technicians can ask questions using familiar maintenance terminology and search both documentation and connected operational data without writing SQL queries or navigating database structures. The connected systems are Microsoft SQL Server and the QAD ERP.

The deployment covers
  • Technical documentationEquipment manufacturers' manuals and internal operating procedures
  • Maintenance recordsRepair history, maintenance interventions and shift handover notes
  • Microsoft SQL ServerOperational and inventory data from connected databases
  • QAD ERPSpare parts records and availability

Supporting troubleshooting and repair preparation

When a fault recurs, a technician can look up how a similar issue was handled and compare the intervention record with the equipment documentation. Before starting the repair, they can check whether the required spare part is available. Production metrics from connected data sources also support the assessment of line operation.

Maintenance records remain useful across shifts. The incoming shift can review earlier interventions and refer to procedures recorded by colleagues. That information is still accessible when the technician who carried out the repair is off shift.

AI is the only tool that can systematically work with data from multiple sources. Using Edmund has led to a lower frequency of a specific failure, or even its complete elimination.
